Issues Photos

Birds Landing
Here on Amelia Island Florida, an issue has arisen with unnecessary destruction of the environment on part of the Egan's Creek Greenway.  This Snowy Egret lands on a pipe connecting the brackish water supply from Egan's Creek to the fresh spring water supply of the south side of Jasmine Road.  This photo was taken November 26, 2010 by Jordan Cain.

Tree Graveyard
These trees were previously supplied with water coming from a nearby spring.  While attempting to restore the Egan's Creek greenway on Amelia Island Florida, poor planning resulted in the flow of brackish water (a mixture of salt and fresh water) into another area on the south side of Jasmine Street.  This once lush vibrant field of trees, has now been reduced to dead stumps.  This photo was taken November 26, 2010 by Jordan Cain.

Sign Post
While trying to restore one environmental problem, the environmental planners on Amelia Island overlooked another potential threat in a different area.  North of Jasmine Street contains a greenway, filled with brackish water, that is now restored to it's original state.  But in the process of restoring the north side, the south side of Egan's Creek greenway was severely damaged.  This is not only an eyesore for the residents of Amelia Island, but a threat to the species which dwell in the trees that have been killed.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, November 26, 2010.
