Advertising Photos: Miller High Life

The product I choose to shoot is Miller High Life beer.  These are the top 8.  I feel that any of these photos could be used in some sort of promotional outlet for Miller.  These photos are more arty, and less studio looking.  Instead of setting the beer in front of a white background, and lots of light, I wanted to get some shadows.  The evening sun provided a perfect opportunity for this kind of light.

Cold Front
This was my first choice of all the photos I took.  It clearly shows the front of the bottle, and the water droplets shows that it is ice cold, and refreshing.  Some of the bottle is out of focus, but, I am assuming that individuals can recognize the bottle, and not have to read every detail.  This picture was taken by Jordan Cain, November 27, 2010.

Water Cap
This is the bottle's cap, with a water droplet, to make it seem like it is fresh out of a cooler full of ice.  I wanted the appeal of the cold, freshness of the beer, and showing the recognizable cap is a way to illustrate that.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, November 27, 2010.

Sunny Front
Once again, this shows the front of the bottle, but this time, there is more of the actual clear bottle, with the golden beer inside.  The sunlight in the background gives it an appearance of being "heaven sent."  Plus, it brings out the color of the beer.  The bottle is also covered in condensation, which makes the bottle look cold, refreshing, and desirable.   This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, November 27, 2010.

Dominant Front
This photo is shot from a very low angle, in order to give the bottle a dominant superior look.  It is almost as if the beer is, "towering above the competition."  The light also brings attention to the label, and brings the background down, while still showing a little of the golden beer color.  The condensation also provides the ice cold look.   This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, November 27, 2010.

Cap and Neck
This photo is once again showing the cap of the bottle, but this time, it also reveals more of the neck of the beer.  The lighting gives it a little more of an realistic artistic feel, rather than product feel.  It might  appeal to a more intelligent, artistic demographic.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, November 27, 2010.

Girl in the Moon
The famous Miller High Life Girl, sitting in the moon is the Trademark Logo for this particular beer, and dates back to the beers creation.  It resonates with older generations, who remember a time when products had more sophisticated artistic logos.  The lighting provides a clear shot of the girl in the moon, as well as the golden beer.   This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, November 27, 2010.

High Life Shadow
This one is a little different, and more artistic than the rest.  Shows the label, but it is not the central focus.  The shadow provides an interesting perspective, and makes the beer look more trendy.   This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, November 27, 2010.

Glowing Bottle
This is another shot that shows the golden color of the beer, and the condensation.  It makes it look fresh from the cooler or fridge, and makes you want to have it.  The gold in the label also comes out when the light reflects onto it.

Issues Photos

Birds Landing
Here on Amelia Island Florida, an issue has arisen with unnecessary destruction of the environment on part of the Egan's Creek Greenway.  This Snowy Egret lands on a pipe connecting the brackish water supply from Egan's Creek to the fresh spring water supply of the south side of Jasmine Road.  This photo was taken November 26, 2010 by Jordan Cain.

Tree Graveyard
These trees were previously supplied with water coming from a nearby spring.  While attempting to restore the Egan's Creek greenway on Amelia Island Florida, poor planning resulted in the flow of brackish water (a mixture of salt and fresh water) into another area on the south side of Jasmine Street.  This once lush vibrant field of trees, has now been reduced to dead stumps.  This photo was taken November 26, 2010 by Jordan Cain.

Sign Post
While trying to restore one environmental problem, the environmental planners on Amelia Island overlooked another potential threat in a different area.  North of Jasmine Street contains a greenway, filled with brackish water, that is now restored to it's original state.  But in the process of restoring the north side, the south side of Egan's Creek greenway was severely damaged.  This is not only an eyesore for the residents of Amelia Island, but a threat to the species which dwell in the trees that have been killed.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, November 26, 2010.

Night Shots

Mirror Infinity Lines

A small green light on a key-chain provided an eerie glow to this mirror, facing another mirror.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, at his house in St. Augustine Florida.  The photo was taken October 26th, 2010.

Sparky
By taking an orange lighter and rapidly lighting it repeatedly, light trails formed, as well as sparks that act like a kind of strobe.  This photo was also taken by Jordan Cain, at his house in St. Augustine Florida.  The photo was taken October 26th, 2010.

LE
By combining a green key-chain light, and a lighter, the letters L and E seem to form in the darkness.  This photo was also taken by Jordan Cain, at his house in St. Augustine Florida.  The photo was taken October 26th, 2010.

Assignment #8

Letters 'N' Things

Die

The letters DIE are actually part of the words SAN DIEGO on a large sphere sculpture in front of the visitors center in St. Augustine Florida, located on South Castillo Drive.  This picture was taken on October 20th, 2010 by Jordan Cain.  St. Augustine is filled with interesting lettering and graffiti.  These letters fit in with the Halloween spirit.

Yew
This YEW graffiti was stenciled on the side of a mailbox in St. Augustine Florida.  Located on St. Francis Street, this is yet another example of the interesting graffiti and letters that are everywhere.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain on October 20th, 2010.

74 Hand
This number 74 was on the front of a shiny brass cannon replica located on Francis Inn and Barracks on Marine Street, St. Augustine Florida.  This is an example of hand engraving that appears all over historic St. Augustine.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain on October 20th, 2010.

Environmental Portrait

"We had 57 flavors", said Teresa, "We figured, why not make it 59 flavors at 59 Cuna Street!"

Mother Teresa
Teresa Mau (age 37) is the owner of a brand new store on 59 Cuna Street in downtown St. Augustine.  Only open for 45 days now, "Pop 'n' Off" is a gourmet popcorn store which boasts 59 flavors of popcorn, including unique flavors such as almond mocha, banana french toast, and datil pepper.  Although Teresa and her husband live on Fleming Island presently they hope to be residents of St. Augustine very soon, in order to be closer to their business.  These photos were taken by Jordan Cain on October 13th, 2010.

Pop 'n' Off
Pop 'n' Off is a brand new store, located in a beautiful house on Cuna Street, St. Augustine.  The House itself is an original house built in the 1800s, and is a little off the beaten path in a more residential area of downtown.  Teresa and her husband hope that with some more advertising, and a new website (www.popnoff.com) they can start really doing some business.  The store sells individual bags, as well as assortment tins, shown above.  They also offer color coordinating, in case you wanted to have popcorn at your next Superbowl party that matched your team.

59 Flavors
Pop 'n' Off is located at 59 Cuna Street.  A few days after opening, owner Teresa Mau and her husband were relaxing on there porch, when it hit them.  "We had 57 flavors", said Teresa, "We figured, why not make it 59 flavors at 59 Cuna Street!"

Waiting For Approval
As well as creating popcorn and running her store, Teresa is also a hard working mom, homeschooling three children who vary in age.  Here she is awaiting the verdict of customers trying free samples.

Blur 'N' Freeze

Water Wheel
This is a water wheel located on Williams Street, in front of the "Fountain of Youth" entrance in St. Augustine, Florida.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain on October 6th, 2010.  This was my best example of a "blur" photo.

Red Children
This is a fountain located on St. George Street, in St. Augustine Florida.  It is quite close to the old entrance to the city.  It was taken by Jordan Cain on October 6th, 2010.  This is my best example of a "frozen" shot.  Most of the water drops in this photo seem to be "frozen."
