Night Shots

Mirror Infinity Lines

A small green light on a key-chain provided an eerie glow to this mirror, facing another mirror.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain, at his house in St. Augustine Florida.  The photo was taken October 26th, 2010.

Sparky
By taking an orange lighter and rapidly lighting it repeatedly, light trails formed, as well as sparks that act like a kind of strobe.  This photo was also taken by Jordan Cain, at his house in St. Augustine Florida.  The photo was taken October 26th, 2010.

LE
By combining a green key-chain light, and a lighter, the letters L and E seem to form in the darkness.  This photo was also taken by Jordan Cain, at his house in St. Augustine Florida.  The photo was taken October 26th, 2010.

Assignment #8

Letters 'N' Things

Die

The letters DIE are actually part of the words SAN DIEGO on a large sphere sculpture in front of the visitors center in St. Augustine Florida, located on South Castillo Drive.  This picture was taken on October 20th, 2010 by Jordan Cain.  St. Augustine is filled with interesting lettering and graffiti.  These letters fit in with the Halloween spirit.

Yew
This YEW graffiti was stenciled on the side of a mailbox in St. Augustine Florida.  Located on St. Francis Street, this is yet another example of the interesting graffiti and letters that are everywhere.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain on October 20th, 2010.

74 Hand
This number 74 was on the front of a shiny brass cannon replica located on Francis Inn and Barracks on Marine Street, St. Augustine Florida.  This is an example of hand engraving that appears all over historic St. Augustine.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain on October 20th, 2010.

Environmental Portrait

"We had 57 flavors", said Teresa, "We figured, why not make it 59 flavors at 59 Cuna Street!"

Mother Teresa
Teresa Mau (age 37) is the owner of a brand new store on 59 Cuna Street in downtown St. Augustine.  Only open for 45 days now, "Pop 'n' Off" is a gourmet popcorn store which boasts 59 flavors of popcorn, including unique flavors such as almond mocha, banana french toast, and datil pepper.  Although Teresa and her husband live on Fleming Island presently they hope to be residents of St. Augustine very soon, in order to be closer to their business.  These photos were taken by Jordan Cain on October 13th, 2010.

Pop 'n' Off
Pop 'n' Off is a brand new store, located in a beautiful house on Cuna Street, St. Augustine.  The House itself is an original house built in the 1800s, and is a little off the beaten path in a more residential area of downtown.  Teresa and her husband hope that with some more advertising, and a new website (www.popnoff.com) they can start really doing some business.  The store sells individual bags, as well as assortment tins, shown above.  They also offer color coordinating, in case you wanted to have popcorn at your next Superbowl party that matched your team.

59 Flavors
Pop 'n' Off is located at 59 Cuna Street.  A few days after opening, owner Teresa Mau and her husband were relaxing on there porch, when it hit them.  "We had 57 flavors", said Teresa, "We figured, why not make it 59 flavors at 59 Cuna Street!"

Waiting For Approval
As well as creating popcorn and running her store, Teresa is also a hard working mom, homeschooling three children who vary in age.  Here she is awaiting the verdict of customers trying free samples.

Blur 'N' Freeze

Water Wheel
This is a water wheel located on Williams Street, in front of the "Fountain of Youth" entrance in St. Augustine, Florida.  This photo was taken by Jordan Cain on October 6th, 2010.  This was my best example of a "blur" photo.

Red Children
This is a fountain located on St. George Street, in St. Augustine Florida.  It is quite close to the old entrance to the city.  It was taken by Jordan Cain on October 6th, 2010.  This is my best example of a "frozen" shot.  Most of the water drops in this photo seem to be "frozen."
